Do These Numbers Mean Anything To You?

Well friends, here I am on the day after my due date, feeling just peachy. I'd never thought I'd say that feeling fine is making me feel miserable! But I really can't complain. I really do still feel just fine. I'm 60% effaced, head is at station -1, and just about 1 cm dialated, which would result in a Bishop score of 6 for those of you birth buffs. We are scheduled for an induction on Friday, if nothing happens before that.

It's so funny to hear women's stories about how they got labor started. Everyone has a different method that they swear by. If you swing by the Chandler Mall mid afternoon, you may see me on my daily mall walk. The Kiosk people are starting to stare. I can hear them thinking, "Who is that large, short woman with no make-up that just walks and walks around everyday?" Meanwhile, I think back "Well annoying Mediterranean guy who attacks all passers by with lotion, it's me. I'd appreciate some respect."

Wow, this girl must be really bored. I'm starting to relate.

Yeah Yeah those numbers get moms all excited. My Dr. kept telling me good new but nothing happened to me either. It is so funny how you can wait until you due date but as soon as it passes you start going crazy! I bet you are so excited! I hope you have a great labor.

Unfortunately they don't mean much, I've learned. Things can go very quickly or very slowly and everyone's experiences are so different. All 3 of mine had to be induced out, but they were all good experiences (thanks to my friend the epidural). Good luck!

I'm really surprised that they will let you go an entire week over! Oh, I sure hope you don't have to wait that long. I remember the last few weeks dragging on and on and just waiting. He'll come soon enough though and you'll do great!

I'll bet annoying Mediterranean guy who attacks all passers by with lotion is worried that the more often pregnant women walk by his kiosk, the greater the chances that he will have to be somehow involved in the birth. He's worried that he'll have to call 911 or drive someone to the hospital or — worst case — actually use his pre-med training to deliver a baby in the mall. He's just doing what-if scenarios in his head. That's what I think. Poor, worried, annoying Mediterranean guy who attacks all passers by with lotion.

My how time flies. Crazy that you're past your due date already. I wish you and David the best! The Chandler mall was a place I went to a lot when we lived down there. I remember being big and pregnant, pushing Mckenzie in a stroller and walking up and down that mall. Next time the guys at the kiosks stare at you, just start making faces at them or better yet, run up to one of them and say "I have some news for you, this might be your baby". hehe.

at least you got an induction date! I was 10 days over with Treyson! I thought I was going to die waiting. Then the next one was 5 days over. IT HAPPENS. Hang in there it will happen. NOTHING HELPS truthfully. don't try them. We can't wait to have another Merrell in the world!

The numbers don't mean anything until you are 100% effaced and dilated at least to a 5, then you know something is happening! Hang in there, keep walking, if anything, it is exercise and that always made me feel better:) Little Kai will come when he is good and ready, afterall, you've made such a lovely home where he is right now, why leave just yet!

oh man I was in your same shoes a year ago pretty much! Boston was born on May 5 and he was a week late and the funny thing - just like you I felt pretty darn good for being DUE!! I was a bit worried because I felt so fine I thought this baby would never come out!! once he decided to come though he flew out in seconds! Good luck and happy BABY!!

It reminds me of Thanksgiving when the kitchen was smelling great and I kept checking in on the oven to see if that dang red thermometer had popped out. The better the kitchen smelled, the more annoyed I was that the thermometer hadn't popped! But we always had turkey and a great dinner. Get ready for something fantastic!!

Kelly, your posts always make me laugh. I also laugh because I can relate. Seriously, I tried everything but getting on my hands and knees to scrub floors and I'm a firm believer that nothing works unless you're body's ready anyway. Ryan and I went on walks every single night. Power walks even. All I can say is I'm so excited for you. It's so rough, but they really do bring so much joy. Congrats!

You know I wish that the docs didn't actually set a date. Why can't they just say the month or like a 2 to 3 week time frame. The date thing sucks haha. Cuz when you go over it's not fun. Luckily I didn't go over, but I wish I didn't have a date to go by. That's just me though.
Good luck! Kai will be here soon enough. And you will be an amazing mama! He loves you already! Have fun walking the mall. Well I guess there is a chance that you already had him, cuz IM writing this on the 13th. Anyway good luck. Can't wait to see pictures of the precious baby boy and new little family :)
